Is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Yo! Happy Thursday!

I have managed to finish the quilt top before having the neck spasm!

It happen so suddenly, when i was preparing for work one morning, i had to take urgent off that morning to visit the doctor and was issued two days medical leave.

What happen was, I couldn't turn my head left, right, up and down. when i lie down, i'm unable to get up on my own. Skylar had to roll me to my side then slowly pull me up. >_<"

Needless to say, totally not able to do sewing or play games on my mobile phone.

Can't sleep well at night too, had to lie really really straight and walk around like a robot.

Skylar had the nerve to kept calling me C-3PO (robot from starwars) the whole week!

Anyway, now i'm better, and just in time to get ready for Christmas too! ^^

This quilt is sooo fun to sew!

The only challenging part is, getting the seams to meet!

Because of my perfectionist nature (skylar claims, i'm only perfectionist at selected times because perfectionist will not have messy bedrooms! but, how can sewing be compared to housechores right?! hmmp!), i have done quite a bit of unpicking, but i'm glad, because the end result is lovely! Now, i can't wait to quilt and bind it! = )

i'm back

I'm back! I have taken a much longer break then intended.

September & October seems to have just pass with a blink.

I have celebrated my birthday on 20th October and before that i went on a one week holiday trip with my younger sister Nicole and my cute nephew (her son) Tristan to visit my older sister Sarah!

Is been almost two years since i last saw my older sis and my dear dear sweet little nephew Seth and nieces, Jaymee and Sheryl! Although i chat with my sisters on Whatsapp on a daily basis but is still somehow different.

Seeing them, makes me realise how much i miss them all! Sigh!

During my break, i did :

** a little sewing every now and then

** a little fabric & notion purchase every month

** a little exercise 

(climbing 2 flights of stairs daily to use the washroom at work count right?! hehe.)

** a lot of fabrics and notions browsing

** watched a lot of movies and television series 

(season break is over, all the dramas returned! Yayy!! maybe next post, i will give a list of drama i highly recommend. heheh)

** a lot of snacking and late nights

** a lot of overtime at work too

this pretty sums up what i did for the past two months.

I am still working on my Basket Case quilt slowly.

Oh! I also started a new Patchwork Quilt project using Heather Bailey's Lottie Da Collection! This collection is sooooo beautiful! Love it!

something new...

Happy Wednesday!

After a rough week at work, i was in a mood to start a new project over the weekend. 

Something fun and easy for relaxation. (yes, sewing makes me feel relax.. strange isn't it?!)

 I found the Basket Case Pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew on sale! Is just what i'm looking for and best part, is on sale! So lucky! heheh..

(The last time i checked, they are still on sale, check it out if you are interested.)

I'll be using my Poetica fabrics on this one. ^^

All cut and ready to sew this weekend. (can't wait!)

Yaaay! 

I have also finish 8 rows of my Hopscotch Quilt.

Will sew the rows together this weekend!

Hopefully, i will have more updates to share next week!

Happy Wednesday!
The past week seems to have zoom pass while i was in an autopilot mode.
Actually truth be told, I haven't been at my best for the past few weeks. Been feeling rather moody. Yes.. almost even no mood to sew too!
But, i force myself to take the first step and start Hopscotch-ing again.
Lucky enough, i feel better and more at peace now. So there will be a lot more Hopscotch-ing posts coming up (i hope). Hopefully by the time my Hopscotch top is done i will be back to my normal self. = )

Two rows completed. Yay!

and most seams are aligned and matches. Double Yay!!

and many more to go.. ^^

Yo! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend!

I had a really great one!

Went polka dot shopping, adding more polka dot fabrics to my growing stash.. ^^

Finish sewing all 88 triangles! 

(earlier post on the Hopscotch pattern quilt can be found here)

Lay and assembly them on the floor. Asking my complaining helpful hubby to lie down beside it, so i can measure and make sure is long enough to cover him (he is about 1.85 metres tall, his current blankets are too short). Luckily i did that, because i realise i need to make another 8 more triangles! This triangles are so fun to sew! I can't wait to get started again! ^^

A few weeks ago, i came across a cool fabric basket on display in Ikea. It look something like this but is made of fabric instead. I guess it is not for sale, as i couldn't find a price tag. I thought it will be quite useful to have one, so i decided to make one myself. 

I used my yellow and white polka dot fabric and the cute piggy fabric i bought in Taiwan and some ric racs!

It turns out, now i can have one fabric basket with two different styles. hehe..

Style 1 : with the top edge folded 

Style 2 : with the top edge not folded

What do you think?

Looking Out Pincushion Tutorial

Happy Wednesday!

Today, i would like to share a cute Pincushion Tutorial.

I call it "Looking Out"...

Skylar says is a cheesy name and makes no sense.. >_<"

Anyway, i find it rather cute! and just in case, i shall briefly explain.. 

It shows a window frame and looking out, it is actually raining. 

So does "Looking Out" make sense to you? ^^

I still have some leftover fabric from my Cherry Christmas.

I'm going to make another "Looking Out" and this time it will be a snowing one! 

This is sooo addictive! hee!

Materials Required for a 4" x 4" Pin Cushion :

Note : Using 1/4" seam allowance throughout

Step 1) From your 1.75" square print fabric and 0.8" x 1.75" white fabric, sew them together to form a row as shown below. 

Press seams to either one side or open. Make two.

Step 2) From your two rows in Step 1 and 3.3" x 0.8" white fabric, sew them together as  shown below. Press seams to either one side or open. Now you have a block!

Step 3) Sew a 1.1" x 3.3" white fabric to each side (left and right) of the block as shown below. Press seams to either one side or open.

Step 4) Sew a 4.5" x 1.1" white fabric to each side (top and bottom) of the block as shown below. Press seams to either one side or open.

Step 5) Placed the 4.5" x 4.5" backing fabric and the completed block right sides together.

Pin it in placed. Sew all around the edge using a 1/4" seam allowance.

Leave about a 1" space opening on the top for turning later on.

Step 6) Turn the pincushion right side out through the 1" space opening.

Gently push out the corners.

Now, Fill it with a pincushion filling of your choice and hand stitch the opening closed!

Enjoy your cute Pincushion and make it in all four season as a gift for everyone you know. ^^

Happily Hopscotch-ing

Last weekend i couldn't resist and started working on the Hopscotch Pattern, cutting into all my lovely Happy Go Lucky fabrics!

I need to make a King Size Quilt!

So 6 down and 82 more triangles to go!!

Looking forward to the weekend to continue "Hopscotch-ing"! ^^

Swoon Quilt ~ block #4

Happy Friday everyone!

Today is a public holiday in Singapore. Is going to be a long relaxing weekend for me. = )

Recently, I have a total change of jobscope at work due to company expansion, so for the past week, i have been busy trying to pick up as much as i could from my colleague. Is actually a new stress challenge for me.

Thus, i really appreciate this short break, where i can relax a little.

I really enjoy and love sewing a great deal, i feel happy when i see a completed block, quilt, pouch etc.. not to mention the buying and choosing of fabrics. Sometimes i feel is kind of therapeutic for me. It makes me slow down and really observe and see things instead of just rushing through life everyday. I'm just glad that i chance upon this two years ago. = )

i've been featured in Ikea!

Finally its here!! Its here!!! ^^

About 3 weeks ago, i received an email from Ikea telling me that they will be publishing my project in their Ikea Family Newsletter - April 2013 Issue!

I had submitted my project to them last December. It was such a loooong wait for me (i'm really not so good at the waiting game!). I thought i have no chance at all.

So, when i received their email, i was overjoyed and couldn't believe is real, so i waited for the actual copy to be send to us, just to make sure.

There are 7 other talented crafters been featured too!

Not trying to pick favorite, but i really love the letter box project and the carousel project! They are so creative and cute!

By the way, can you guess which project is mine? ^^

Ta-Daaaa!!

They have featured my "Box of Donuts" baby quilt! hee! hee!

Ohh! and i was also send a $50 Ikea Gift Card! Wonderful isn't it!! ^^

Currently I'm also working on a pattern for my "Box of Donuts" baby quilt which i will share soon!

so sorry, there are too many exclamation marks in this post! but, that is because i'm just so excited and happy! please pardon me for just one post! ^^

And so sorry for the poor pictures, i am just so lazy forgetful recently, kept forgetting to bring my camera home from Skylar's house, thus all pictures taken from my Note 2.

oh! did i mention i will be going to Taiwan for a week holiday from 1st May?!

I'm so excited and looking forward to the long holiday break and yummy food! Slurp!

and best part is, i google and found that they have a fabric market in Taiwan! when i visited Taiwan back in year 2010, i do not even know how to use a sewing machine! how time really flies.. So for this trip I will be sure to bring an extra luggage! hee!

How is it possible that is already end of January??!

Only one week left to Chinese New Year!

For the past few weekends, I have been busy doing spring cleaning in my parent's home, CNY's shopping, catching up on all my television series, which by the way the list is getting longer (maybe i will list them up one day, just for the record.. heheh.. ;p). In the midst of all, i managed to sneak in a little sewing time to finish my Second Swoon Block!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!

How was your holiday?

Time just got away fast when you are having a great time right?!

We spend the holidays gathering with family and friends and feasting and more gatherings and even more feasting.. now is time to start exercising (argghh.. >_<" ) to make up for it..

Thank you to all your wonderful recommendations earlier, 

i have started a new television series - Once Upon a Time! 

The story is so cleverly written in such a way that all the fairytales are all link to one another. 

Is a great show! you got to try it, if you are one who loves fairytales and mystery!

And... I have also finish my Poetica Quilt!

The finished quilt measures 32inch by 38inch, and i quilt it with simple lines.

It will be a gift for my niece Jaymee. I hope she likes them. : )

I will be flying off to Bangkok, Thailand tomorrow for a 4 days holiday with Skylar and our friends. My office work has been so hectic recently and i have been working a lot of late nights for the past two months due to year end closing.

I am so looking forward to this short trip for a nice break. : )

(although i will sure miss my weekend sewing time : ) ).

Swoon Quilt ~ block #1

Remember how i said i will make a Swoon quilt using Pat Bravo's Poetica collection for our new house, and then i saw Pat Bravo's Rock and Romance collection and fell in love with that too..

well, to save myself from the agony of deciding which, i have managed to blend both collections together! Hurray!!!

Last weekend i had a great time playing with Poetica!

I've decided on a simple pattern that will show off all the pretty prints!

This weekend i will be having my flea market!

Hopefully i can squeeze in some sewing time and finish up all my outstanding quilts, so i can start on some new projects and tutorials next weekend. = )

Cherry Christmas

I have been busy cutting, sewing and ironing 144pcs of cute little Half Square Triangles from my Cherry Christmas charm pack over the weekend.

I must say, Charm packs are so easy to work with and save me a lot of time! 

I'm sooo in love with charm pack now! I'm addicted! ^^

So i've placed another order for a set of Rock and Romance fat quarter bundle to be used for my swoon quilt. heheh..

yep, i have changed my mind. I will use Poetica for another quilt instead. hee!

I can't help being indecisive, there are just too many delicious fabrics everywhere tempting me.. ;p

For the rest of this week, i will be busy finishing up the binding for a quilt and more sewing for the rest of my Cherry Christmas! ^^
