a sewing post

Taking a break from the sewing world for a couple of years also means that i missed out on the release of all the beautiful fabric collections which also means i save a lot of money!

So........... this will mean that i can buy more now with all the money saved. haha! 

Luckily Skylar never read my blog, so he will never know. hehe. Oh! speaking of this, recently he has also been complaining highlighting that he has been seeing all the sewing stuff popping up in his search feed in Instagram. hahhahaha. 

Last week, my younger sister Nicole has also send me a screenshot of her search feed in Instagram which is showing patchwork pouch etc suggestions and she ask me how come she is seeing this. hahhahahha. 

i find it to be hilarious because i know they are not interested in sewing stuff at all and have commented that all fabrics looks the same to them, so all these pop ups in their Instagram makes me laugh! LOL.

Anyway, Skylar told my sister in order to stop Instagram from suggesting any more sewing stuff in their search feed, they have to either stop "liking" my post or "unfollow" me in instagram. of course, i told them is uncool to do that. LOL

when i first set eyes on this lovely flower sugar maison fabric by Lecien awhile ago, i felt like it was design for me. :)

First it is in my favorite color, Second it has small flowers which i love and lastly they are in polka dots! I am so lucky that i am still able to get some of this pretty prints.

Aren't they a beauty. :)

So i made a gyoza pouch using this pretty print to keep all my coins. :)

but now i have second thoughts as they look too pretty to use.. haha.

Instead of using cotton batting as mentioned in my tutorial, I use a light weight sew in interface. I really love how more rounded and cute it looks.

I also made a Zipper Pouch for my mum in her favorite color - Pink!

Is strange that i never sew anything for my mum. This is the first, but definitely won't be last. :)

Same like my gyoza pouch, instead of using cotton batting as mention in my tutorial, i have used a medium weight sew in interface for this one. :)

Taking a break and returning to my favorite hobby makes me realised how much i have missed and love sewing. Is really good to be back. :)

I am working on a few more tutorials that i will share as soon as i am done sewing / writing them. See you around. :)

i'm back

I'm back! I have taken a much longer break then intended.

September & October seems to have just pass with a blink.

I have celebrated my birthday on 20th October and before that i went on a one week holiday trip with my younger sister Nicole and my cute nephew (her son) Tristan to visit my older sister Sarah!

Is been almost two years since i last saw my older sis and my dear dear sweet little nephew Seth and nieces, Jaymee and Sheryl! Although i chat with my sisters on Whatsapp on a daily basis but is still somehow different.

Seeing them, makes me realise how much i miss them all! Sigh!

During my break, i did :

** a little sewing every now and then

** a little fabric & notion purchase every month

** a little exercise 

(climbing 2 flights of stairs daily to use the washroom at work count right?! hehe.)

** a lot of fabrics and notions browsing

** watched a lot of movies and television series 

(season break is over, all the dramas returned! Yayy!! maybe next post, i will give a list of drama i highly recommend. heheh)

** a lot of snacking and late nights

** a lot of overtime at work too

this pretty sums up what i did for the past two months.

I am still working on my Basket Case quilt slowly.

Oh! I also started a new Patchwork Quilt project using Heather Bailey's Lottie Da Collection! This collection is sooooo beautiful! Love it!

something new...

Happy Wednesday!

After a rough week at work, i was in a mood to start a new project over the weekend. 

Something fun and easy for relaxation. (yes, sewing makes me feel relax.. strange isn't it?!)

 I found the Basket Case Pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew on sale! Is just what i'm looking for and best part, is on sale! So lucky! heheh..

(The last time i checked, they are still on sale, check it out if you are interested.)

I'll be using my Poetica fabrics on this one. ^^

All cut and ready to sew this weekend. (can't wait!)

Yaaay! 

I have also finish 8 rows of my Hopscotch Quilt.

Will sew the rows together this weekend!

Hopefully, i will have more updates to share next week!

Happy Weekend! (well almost..)

Received flowers two days in a row from a sweet guy.

Although i am not really a flower type of girl, but still feels happy looking at the pretty flowers. = ) 

Actually flowers on these fabrics will brighten my day too! (hint hint)

a fruitful weekend

Yo! I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend!

I had a really great one!

Went polka dot shopping, adding more polka dot fabrics to my growing stash.. ^^

Finish sewing all 88 triangles! 

(earlier post on the Hopscotch pattern quilt can be found here)

Lay and assembly them on the floor. Asking my complaining helpful hubby to lie down beside it, so i can measure and make sure is long enough to cover him (he is about 1.85 metres tall, his current blankets are too short). Luckily i did that, because i realise i need to make another 8 more triangles! This triangles are so fun to sew! I can't wait to get started again! ^^

A few weeks ago, i came across a cool fabric basket on display in Ikea. It look something like this but is made of fabric instead. I guess it is not for sale, as i couldn't find a price tag. I thought it will be quite useful to have one, so i decided to make one myself. 

I used my yellow and white polka dot fabric and the cute piggy fabric i bought in Taiwan and some ric racs!

It turns out, now i can have one fabric basket with two different styles. hehe..

Style 1 : with the top edge folded 

Style 2 : with the top edge not folded

What do you think?

Which style do you like better?

Happily Hopscotch-ing

Ta-daaaaaa!!

I have completed 6 triangles!

Last weekend i couldn't resist and started working on the Hopscotch Pattern, cutting into all my lovely Happy Go Lucky fabrics!

I need to make a King Size Quilt!

So 6 down and 82 more triangles to go!!

Looking forward to the weekend to continue "Hopscotch-ing"! ^^

we are back!

We have been back from Taiwan for about a week now.

Still missing the nice cooling weather and yummy food.. 

This pack of Moda Solids came when i was away in Taiwan. = )

I have too many small projects on my hand at the moment, lots of birthday gifts to be exact! so i guess they will just have to wait.. 

Luckily for Skylar, his wife did not go crazy at the Fabric Market in Taiwan.

In fact, he was surprised and actually ask why i buy so little fabric.. 

It was okay, because i too, was surprise at myself for buying so little fabric.

But there will always be another trip.. so.... (wink) ;p

A day at the bear's fun fair

The moment i saw these pretty flower fabric, i knew my mum will love them as cushion covers and so do i! LOL

Basics.. Basics.. how can i resists.. ^^

Some of the fabrics are wrinkled from my poor and lazy packing the flight..

Thus, please enjoy the pretty prints and ignore the creases (and poor lighting).. = )

I really really couldn't resist buying this same cute prints in three different colors!

They will make really cute bags and purse for me my nieces Jaymee and Sheryl!

But, as for the paw prints and turquoise polka dots, I'm not sure the correct term.

 but the sign board above them in the shop wrote "waterproof fabric"..

Is December!

Finally! my orders has arrived!
